A couple of days ago, a professional Hearthstone player was put on the radar within the gaming community after Blizzard had taken away all of the prize money that he received for winning a tournament and had banned him from participating in any official tournaments for a whole year.
The player was punished after he openly declared his support for the protesters in Hong Kong and after hearing this, Epic has stated that they will not do the same to players or its esports teams.
In a statement made to The Verge Epic has stated: “Epic supports everyone’s right to express their views on politics and human rights. We wouldn’t ban or punish a Fortnite player or content creator for speaking on these topics.”
Later, Tim Sweeney who is the founder of Epic Games tweeted:
“Epic supports the rights of Fortnite players and creators to speak about politics and human rights.”
